"Nothing Was Delivered" was the closing track on the Byrds' ground-breaking 1968 country rock album, "Sweetheart of the Rodeo." The song was first recorded by Bob Dylan and members of The Band during late 1967 or early 1968, according to the notes by Rob Bowman for the 2005 box set, "The Band" A Musical History." Roger McGuinn of the Byrds said "'Nothing Was Delivered' sounded like a drug deal gone bad. It had a slightly dark or ominous tone."[
